ERDAS TITAN at ASPRS 2008

I’ll be at the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) 2008 Annual Conference this week in Portland, Oregon. The conference theme "Bridging the Horizons - New Frontiers in Geospatial collaboration" will offer an outstanding program of general and technical sessions looking to the future of the geospatial industry.

There are many opportunities to get a look at ERDAS TITAN this week in Portland. ERDAS is hosting a Users Group Meeting (UGM) on Tuesday, April 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Room A-106 of the Oregon Convention Center and I’ll be presenting the TITAN solution there. Also ERDAS is exhibiting in booth #200, showcasing TITAN along with a broad array of both desktop and enterprise solutions.

Please stop by the ERDAS UGM and booth if you are in town!

What is ERDAS TITAN?

So what is ERDAS TITAN, anyway? Very simply, ERDAS TITAN is an innovative data sharing solution, enabling users and organizations to publish, access, discover and ultimately consume geospatial data, web services and location-based content, all in one online, dynamic, collaborative network. ERDAS TITAN is a geospatial data bridge, providing access to multiple public and private data resources, and enabling that data to be accessed in a variety of desktop, internet and 3D virtual globe applications in use on the desktop.

With TITAN users can:
  • Drag and drop data and publish with permissions to a network of users
  • Manage connections to data, organizations and people through one simple client interface
  • Access geospatial data and web services from multiple sources, into multiple applications
  • Create and share an interactive 3D geospatial presentation – a ‘MyWorld’ – and invite users to participate in that space
A 'MyWorld'

With TITAN organizations can:
  • Enable secure, permission-based data distribution both internally and externally, utilizing an ERDAS TITAN GeoHub
  • Participate as a community on the ERDAS TITAN Network

This is a broad overview...look for details in future posts.

Happy to Share

As a long time reader of blogs, news bits and commentary from the geospatial realm and beyond, I’m very pleased and encouraged to step into the world of being a blog writer! I’m a product manager in the geospatial industry, and am as excited as many of you are at the dynamic changes in our midst…No longer is geospatial only the cool technology that just a few of us at one time felt so privileged to be a part of…now the world has tuned into what ‘geo’ can provide. Consumers are craving and businesses are creating geo-gadgets, geo-info, geo-systems, geo-data, geo-everything! We’re beyond the eve and well into the new era now. With all this change I have some things to share..and also to learn about (hint: please comment!).

This blog will focus on ERDAS TITAN, an unparalleled means to publish, discover, access, exchange, and ultimately retrieve and visualize the geospatial data and location-based content we create and use in our daily work as geospatial professionals. Other topics that I will discuss here may include data sharing, the evolution of geospatial web services, enterprise environments, interoperability, information extraction and utility, visualization, city/world modeling and 3D technologies, our dynamic geospatial marketplace, and applications in GIS, remote sensing and photogrammetry.

Stay tuned...

Prepared for Disaster

I am thrilled at industry response to ERDAS TITAN and am pleased to showcase one of our first customers:

NVision Solutions is headquartered in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and understands the importance of having adequate imagery before and after a disaster. After Hurricane Katrina, NVision and many other organizations realized the need for one single, secure network for rapidly sharing the tremendous amount of data created immediately following a disaster. Employing an ERDAS TITAN GeoHub, NVision is now prepared for future emergency response situations. Read their white paper for more information.
